Eats: Picnix Bistro

Posted in Food by mcarmen5 on 11/20/2009

Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the main California and Laurel streets in San Franciso’s Laurel Village is this cute Provencal inspired gem.

It’s a family-owned storefront known for delicious, fresh sandwiches and salads — some of which come with a French-Vietnamese twist.

I ordered the Tuna Melt sandwich, which strayed from the typical tuna melt by using large chunks of tuna instead of tuna salad.  The melted provolone was fused with the crisp, buttery baguette slice, which made the sandwich extra buttery and rich.  The sandwich also came with tomatoes, red onions and greens.

I recommend it along with the Grace Kelly sandwich, which is a roast chicken sandwich with avocado, fresh parsley, bacon and avocado on potato bread.

My friend Connie ordered the Thanksgiving Dinner sandwich, which came with roasted turkey meat chunks, greens, apple stuffing and cranberry sauce-fused whole grain bread. Yum!
